Stranger in a Strange Land, 2009
Sometimes I just need to keep my hands busy.
In 2009, I began sending friends old postcards and small pieces of art by mail. Inspired by a friend’s reply, a small, hand-sewn piece with painting, stickers and an old magazine clipping, I cut up a few postcards and sewed them up to create a fictional landscape. I made a few more, all undocumented; simply sent to friends. Soon I started making them for no one in particular, just to pass the time.
I enjoy crafting these little pieces. They require no concept. I can make them while I watch serial TV. I can relax with them.
